Melbourne Quick Removals

I booked Melbourne Quick Removalist under the proviso that they would move our 3 bedrooms, lounge, and kitchen townhouse for $99 per hour with no call out fee. I explained over the phone that the townhouse was on two levels and the new property was on three levels. “No problem!!” was the answer I received over the phone and gave confirmation that the charge would still be $99 per hour. On moving day we had booked the movers for 12:30pm. At 1pm we receive a call saying they were running one hour behind. At this stage we were receptive as understandably, these things can take time. In the end they arrived 5 hours late at 5:30pm! Then the removalist said that they were not informed that there were stairs at the property and tried to charge us $1 PER STAIR PER HOUR. Combined that would have been an extra $45 per hour!! Their reasoning was that they had come off a big job and were tired. We called the “Boss” and he agreed that the original quote was correct, the “Boss” calls the removalists and after we were told that he agreed that the extra charge was needed. When we pointed out that they were holding us to ransom as it was now after 5pm and we needed to move and we tried to get the “Boss” to speak to them on speakerphone the removalist became extremely belligerent towards us. In the end they jumped in the truck and drove off leaving us (three girls) to scramble to find new removalists. This company is an absolute sham and are trying to exploit people in their time of need. Book at your own peril!! .
